Pet lovers abound in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and the “pet-friendly” atmosphere is growing in the Caribbean vacation hot spot. Many restaurants allow dogs to join their owners on patio or outside seating. Some even offer water and treats to four-legged friends. Locals have unofficially created a mini dog park located at Calle 24 between Avenidas 10 and 20.
Though dogs aren’t allowed on the beach, pet owners can enjoy a long stroll with their “best friends” along the infamous 5th avenue that runs right through the heart of Playa del Carmen…

Liona is a streaking fluff of energy and sprite. In rebellious bursts she’ll leap over furniture, bounce off of walls and jet for the quickest escape to the magical and mysterious world outside. The “boxing cat” charges at canines with a determined might that makes any onlooker giggle. Moody, ornery and not one for all the sappy “love stuff,” yet somehow she’s got us completely under her charming little spell!
